| If yous could go a length of carbon fibre braided sleeve (eg. http://www.easycomposites.co.britain/carbon-fibre-reinforcement/carbon-fibre-braided-sleeve.aspx ) and some decent laminating resin / rod wrapping resin, yous could pull a couple of layers over, epoxy and wrap tightly in tape (ane that epoxy doesn't stick to) to clasp out the excess. This would strengthen information technology in multiple centrality. Alternatively, if the crack runs down the length of the rod, binding it tightly with a very light braid (eg 2lb Fireline) and roofing in epoxy would give it some more life. I in one case purchased a length of this braided sleeve from AMT Composites in Pinetown but information technology was in a larger diameter. It may be worth your while seeing if they take something more suitable simply I reckon doing information technology that way may non exist worth information technology. Information technology'southward a fine excuse to go a new rod! BTW, doing any of this may alter the activity of the rod. | It's a lighter application rod so a repair is possible and viable. Strip all the varnish off the area to exist repaired Showtime with a very tight demark with E or D size thread , beginning 2cm beneath the end of the crack and run the bind all the style up to the end of the section. Now mix your flexcoat and add 25% acetone to information technology so it's very thin. Coat the demark lightly and let the thin Flexcoat penetrate right to the blank. Now allow it to cure overnight. Now do a full length demark over the cured demark and come up back the length, equivalent to the depth the male joint fits in the mid section. In other words y'all'll have a double demark added over the under bind (this at the acme office of the demark) I would too recommend moving the guides 90 degrees to the fissure so that the pressure is not direct into the repaired cleft in future use. Now flexcoat the whole lot once more and let to cure and the rod will give y'all a few more years of fishing. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| OK I can see amend at present. Unremarkably it is the female person section of the joint that will split. This is a different but easier repair. 1. Remove the rubber insert at the base of the mid section and clean whatever residual epoxy out. two. Tape up the exterior of the bare to make certain you don't run the fissure in the side by side processes. Insulation record or a string bind the whole length. three. Now find an old section of blank that fits snugly into the mid section then epoxy that into place. iv. 1cm above where the joint ends after yous assemble the rod, do a full length demark all the way up and end two cm higher than the end of the crack. Epoxy and the rod will be usable. 5. Recall to make certain the guides are then fitted at xc degrees to the scissure. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
